Meet Our Executive Team
President and Chief Executive Officer

Andrea Brault, MD, MMM, FACEP

Dr. Brault completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine in 1993 and continued an active clinical practice for over twenty-years. Andrea joined Brault in 1999 to contribute to the family business and scale the management team. In 2004, she was elected President expanding her role to Chief Executive Officer in 2015. She continued her education with a Master of Medical Management degree from the University of Southern California which focuses on the business aspect of medicine from a physician’s perspective.

As the immediate-Past Chair of the Emergency Department Practice Medicine Management Association (EDPMA), she is a strong voice for independent practices, advocating for fair physician reimbursement, and is a leader in national policy discussions surrounding the issue of balance billing. She has served as President of California American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Co-Chair of the Reimbursement Committee, as well a member of the Board of Directors. Andrea currently sits on the Reimbursement Committee of ACEP.

Dr. Brault is an industry thought-leader through her frequent speaking, writing and expert testimony. While her industry knowledge is both broad and deep, she has notable expertise in independent physician groups’ practice management and revenue as well as the prudent layperson standard.

She is also an industry philanthropist as a major financial contributor to the Emergency Medicine Action Fund, an advocacy organization working nationwide to secure and improve the rights and opportunities of the independent practice of emergency medicine.

Andrea lives in LaVerne, California with her husband, John. Her adult daughters, Madison, Megan and Jordan, plan to continue the legacy of Brault.

Chairman of the Board

Del Brault

Del was a Systems Engineer with IBM Corporation and has been involved in hospital financial systems since the 1960s, before he began billing for emergency physicians in 1975 as President of Brault Strockman & Company. He has been a long time contributor and resource to ACEP since its early years in Michigan.

Chief Strategy Officer

Allen Cooper, MBA

Allen joined Brault in 2019 as Chief Strategy Officer, after more than two years as an Advisor to our Board of Directors. He brings more than 10 years’ experience in healthcare business strategy, consulting, and IT systems development.

At Brault, Allen leads organizational strategy and business planning. He also manages a team of advisors that support Brault clients in the areas of quality data, MIPS reporting, strategies to support provider attestation, and gap analysis to identify areas for quality improvement.

Allen started his career with an eight-year tenure at Accenture, before going on to become the President and CEO of a healthcare IT firm focused on quality measurement and software development. He then went on to co-found a healthcare technology company focused on tools development for clinical environment readiness.

Allen holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Strategy from University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Business, and a BBA in Computer Science and Accounting from UW – Whitewater.

Vice President of Practice Improvement

Jason Adler, MD, FACEP

Dr. Adler joined Brault in 2018 as Vice President of Practice Improvement, after nearly a decade as a practicing physician and executive with a midsize and large physician group.

As part of his leadership role with Brault, he is directly responsible for provider education in documentation , and group practice success. He consults with clients on issues related to provider productivity, malpractice risk mitigation, and hospital relationship management.

Dr. Adler is a board-certified emergency physician, a nationally recognized expert in documentation and reimbursement, and a distinguished author – featured in Becker’s Hospital Review, ACEP Now, EP Monthly, and in the Journal of Emergency Medicine. He has also served multiple terms on the Board of Directors and as Councilor for Maryland ACEP, and has been a Physician Auditor for Medicaid in Maryland.

In addition to his full-time role with Brault, Dr. Adler continues to practice emergency medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center as Clinical Assistant Professor, reviews malpractice claims for the U.S. Army, and is part of the Novitas / Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee.

Sepand Akhavanhaidary

Sepand joined Brault in 2017 after nearly 10-years with a national hospital system overseeing and managing each facility’s risk management department. Adept in HIPAA compliance he has particular expertise in Knox Keene Act, Anti-Kickback laws, and Stark violations, and is accomplished in healthcare reimbursement litigation, including contract disputes with insurance plans; underpayment matters; and reasonable and customary rate issues.

Sepand’s skill in rendering legal counsel in relation to federal and state regulations including fraud and abuse, HIPPA, Medi-Cal and Medicare are all core aspects of his role at Brault. Sepand belongs to California Society of Health Care Attorneys, Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management, Orange County Bar Association and Iranian American Lawyers Association. He holds a law degree from Whittier College School of Law and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from University of California Los Angeles.

Sepand lives in Laguna Hills, California and enjoys spending time with his children: Connie, Nicole, Neekon and Darion.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Patrick Satterfield

Patrick joined Brault in 2016 and is a consummate sales professional with nearly 30-years of experience helping healthcare companies grow. He is an expert at selling medical coding and billing services, practice management, and population health applications with a concentration in the emergency medicine and acute care markets. Patrick’s breadth of responsibilities at Brault include: new business development, customer relations and retention, marketing and trade show planning, and exhibiting.

Prior to Brault, Pat held executive sales positions with DST Health Solutions, Computer Sciences Corporation, and Nichols Research Corporation. Additionally, Pat has a long history of involvement with the Emergency Department Practice Management Association, the Hospital Financial Management Association, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Patrick is a University of Alabama alumni and lives in Birmingham with his spouse, Susan and daughters, Elizabeth and Brooke. He enjoys most things outdoors including golfing and hiking. He is a long time runner participating in over a dozen marathons and one ultra-marathon.
